What is this Conference?  The National Youth Leadership Training Conference is a two weekend outdoor experience for youth leaders in support of the Scoutmaster's responsibility for training the Troop's youth leaders.  It is conducted by the Baltimore Area Council Training Committee using a syllabus published by the Boy Scouts of America.

NYLT replaces the Junior Leader Training Conference and Green Blaze.

What is the purpose?  Scouting recognizes that Scoutmasters have the responsibility of training their own youth leaders.  The purpose of the National Youth Leadership Training Conference is NOT to assume the Scoutmaster's role, but to support it.  The Conference objectives are:

1. To enhance the relationship between the participant and his Scoutmaster.

2. To have fun.

3. To give participants a basic knowledge of the skills of leadership and help them relate these skills to their Troop responsibilities.

4. To give the participants the opportunity to share ideas and experiences with Scouts from other Troops.

5. To give participants the confidence and knowledge to run the Troop program.

6. To create an atmosphere where Scouts will experience Scouting at its best.
